This is a three-year  approved training programme starting at the beginning of July.

This residency will prepare you to sit the ECVS diploma examination which will take place in the February following completion of the Residency programme. The programme is well supervised and structured to provide comprehensive training in small animal soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, taking you to a specialist level small animal surgeon.

There will be ample, dedicated, time for fulfilling research objectives and undertaking training in the supporting clinical disciplines required by the ECVS. The programme has a strong track record of training surgeons with a high success rate of passing ECVS examinations. The surgery department at the QMHA is large, comprising more than ten faculty surgeons and six surgical residents. Faculty surgeons hold specialist level Diploma qualifications from different awarding bodies i.e. DipECVS, Dip ACVS and RCVS DSAS(ST). Residents are exposed to a very large number and wide range of surgical cases. As the QMHA also has a well established and busy Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine and Neurology & Neurosurgery services, residents are additionally exposed to cases originating from these services as well as a multi-disciplinary approach to case management.

Among other attributes we are looking for people who work well as part of a team, are proactive and enthusiastic and dedicated to achieving the requirements of an ECVS residency training programme.
