IFSTAL is a collaboration between five higher education institutions: The University of Oxford, (comprising The ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ (RVC), The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, School of Oriental and African Studies) and the University of Warwick. The programme offers interdisciplinary food systems teaching and learning to undergraduate and postgraduate students making use of the experience and expertise of staff members of these institutions. Using a range of teaching methods and benefitting from an extensive workplace liaison and alumni network, IFSTAL aims to improve students’ knowledge and understanding of our food systems and train food systems thinkers.

RVC and LCIRAH will be hosting the event on Thursday 17th October 2019 in the Great Hall at RVC (/about/our-campuses/camden/find-us) and kicking off by introducing you to the structure, aims and benefits of the IFSTAL programme, including options for students and workplace partners to get involved in the IFSTAL network.

This is a combined event hosting a film screening of a 30 minute documentary by British-Canadian artist and film maker, Zev Robinson, called . This forms part of his art, film and food project . The documentary focusses on beef production in Scotland with interviews from the farmers themselves detailing their farming life and experiences. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion about meat production and the issues surrounding this topic. Our panel consists of experts spread across the food system to stimulate a broad, in-depth and interesting discussion in this area. Questions will also be welcomed from the audience.

Simultaneous launch events will be held at the IFSTAL partner universities, The University of Oxford and The University of Warwick. However, the film screening is only held during this launch event held at RVC. If you would like to attend the event at another institute please visit for information.
